Terms and Conditions of participation
The MEA2013 is a new international design awards’ competition honoring the most innovative and creative design solutions that have been completed during the last five years in the Mediterranean zone. These awards are an opportunity to point out innovative sustainable design projects realized around the Mediterranean basin, where climate and economic conditions are akin.
The goal is to enhance exchange of ideas on environmentally conscious design, and enrich the ecologicalsustainability approach. It also aims at highlighting projects that follow the principles of sustainability in architecture, mainly through environmentally responsive passive design solutions. Implementation of natural systems and mild technologies is more welcome than high performance applications, also important but inexpedient, in countries of limited high-tech industrial production.
Mostly welcome, are projects that draw from local resources, respect regional identity, promote diversity and comply with ecological principles. Overall, original and seminal projects are sought, which improve life standards and have low impact on the environment, both ecological and cultural.
This biennial awards’ competition will create a platform for assessing sustainability and enhance the exchange of ideas about the architecture of the Mediterranean basin.
The MEA2013 will be promoted and communicated through the available e-tools and towards a wide database of professionals throughout the Mediterranean zone. Press releases will be sent out to international publications and media, and an extended network of communication points and partners will be utilized in order to inform and keep updated all the interested parties and stakeholders of sustainable architecture in the Mediterranean countries.
News, projects, entries and updates of the awards’ competition will be published on the MEA2013 official website, www.mea2013.gr. Each submission will feature there and the nominated projects will be highlighted. The winning and shortlisted projects of the MEA2013 will, also, feature in a special bilingual edition of Building Green Magazine – the quarterly Greek review – with information and technical specifics about the project, the architect or architect team and the implementation process.
The exact location of each project (address, coordinates, country of origin) will appear on a Mediterranean map, displayed and registered in www.mea2013.gr
After the selection, nomination and evaluation process, a MEA2013 Awards ceremony will be held in Athens.
No entrance fee is required.
